I'm guessing it is for youth, teens to adults with smaller hands. It measures 9 inches from the heel of hand to top over index finger. Here is a vintage Seaway CM14 Catchers Mitt for baseball and right hand throwers. Has good padding.

It is 12 inches from side to over the thumb pink finger. It is made with full grain cowhide and nylon stitching in Japan circa the 1970's. Fair-Good vintage condition.
